Summer School Volunteers Needed

For the past few months we have been building a relationship with San Juan Unified School District. They are the school district that has been most directly affected by the influx of refugees. A couple of weeks ago they came by our after school refugee life coaching program. They were impressed and asked us to start with some of the summer school refugee students. This is exciting and will give us the ability to help more refugees.

It is a big task however. They want us to run two classes simultaneously for 11 straight school days. To pull this off we need volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know.

We need assistant coaches during school hours, drivers and chaperones for a possible camp and after school activities.

Needs:

Assistant Coaches: School Days Between July 5th and 21st @ 12:30-2:30

Chaperones and Drivers: Possible activities after school or on the weekends, may include a camping trip. No dates set in stone.

Bonus Opportunity: Childcare; two groups will take both Raquel and I to run them and would need a babysitter during coaching times. If you want to help but not necessarily interact with refugees this is the opportunity for you.

Please let us know if you can help with any of these opportunities. This is a great opportunity to build relationships with refugees and share with them how to settle in their new home.
